While marching bells played around me, I stood beside my groom my fingers drumming along with the music in an attempt to distract myself from the sea of spectators. The laced corset compressed what felt like every organ in my body together into one tight bundle so that I could fit in the white gown that was secretly a size too small. What bride doesn’t want to look good on her wedding day? I could feel the heat radiating from my face, and I couldn’t help but worry about who else noticed the flushed look that the skin toned concealer was to mask, as I tried to keep myself preoccupied with my insecure thought about how I looked.
