Personal Narrative-My Wedding Day - 991 Words

While marching bells played around me, I stood beside my groom my fingers drumming along with the music in an attempt to distract myself from the sea of spectators. The laced corset compressed what felt like every organ in my body together into one tight bundle so that I could fit in the white gown that was secretly a size too small. What bride doesn’t want to look good on her wedding day? I could feel the heat radiating from my face, and I couldn’t help but worry about who else noticed the flushed look that the skin toned concealer was to mask, as I tried to keep myself preoccupied with my insecure thought about how I looked. I recited my well-practiced vowels in a low mumble and signed the documents that officially made me Mrs. James.†¦show more content†¦A year after my marriage, more things started to fall apart. On several occasions, I had noticed my husband tiptoeing all hours of the night as he snuck in and out of the house to meet up with people. At this time though, I didn’t say much because we were expecting our first child. I terrified that if I confronted him, our marriage would fall apart, and every ideal family is one that is together, so I thought. After the birth of my oldest child, things started to get better. My husband and I discussed his activities, and we agreed that moving away from his â€Å"temptations† would benefit our marriage. So, a few months after Colton was born, we packed up and moved to Tennessee. All this time I felt as though I was doing the right thing. I was making decisions that an adult would do for their families. I was familiar with Tennessee from childhood vacations and loved it, but I knew this was different. I was leaving my mom and not coming back. We said our goodbyes on a Saturday afternoon and piled up in our small four-door sedan to set out on a six-hour drive to our new house. Upon our arrival, I started working my ideal job at the hospital, and my husband had his. I was day shift and my husband was working nights, so we hardly saw each other, but things started to seem better for us.
